Welcome to the Palliative Care Research Society Website. The Palliative Care Research Society is dedicated to promoting research into all aspects of palliative care and to facilitating its dissemination. Membership of the society is open to any individual or organisation who is interested in furthering the society's aims. Members are drawn from many different professions including medicine, nursing and social work.

This year the PCRS has been in existence for 21 years with the inaugural meeting being held in Cardiff in the autumn of 1991 on the eve of the AGM and annual clinical meeting of the Association of Palliative Medicine (APM). There were 31 participants. From its inception PCRS was multiprofessional, and accorded equal status to both qualitative and quantitative research and meetings were structured to ensure that no one profession dominated events. The environment for palliative care research has changed over these 21 years, with more opportunity for collaboration and to learn from each other. Thus the PCRS continues to have an important role in the promotion, support and development of high quality resarch within palliative care.
